My name is Greg and I am a blogger. I don’t make a living from my blogs but I do regularly make four figures in a month from blogging and .
I first started blogging in 1996 or 1997 (I forget which) using a hand coded webpage for each entry. It was slow and painful to do and in 2000 I made the leap to livejournal as an early adopter. But I had a curiosity for all things blogging and it wasn’t long before I was experimenting with other platforms including blogger, movable type and ultimately the blogging love of my life, WordPress.
I blogged for some years until I realized that there were people making money from blogging and I decided that I would like some of that money myself. I tried professional blogging and made some money from it and was even recognized for some of my work but in the end the effort required combined with a difficult time in my work life I let it go.
Even though I let the idea of being a professional blogger go, I never completely let the idea of making some money from blogging go and so I set out to find ways to make some decent money from my personal blogs. I set the aim of breaking even with blogging paying for my web hosting, internet access and a couple of small things. Within a couple of months I had achieved my aim and had broken even. A couple of months later I was making even more. I am a four figure blogger meaning that I make over $1000 a month from blogging on my personal blogs.
As my blogs have increased the income that they earn blogging has in realistic terms grown from a happy hobby to part time job (and full time obsession) to a small business recently when i transfered my blogs to be owned by my company and with it my ability to earn money has increased substantially. This is the first of several new blogs I have planned on different topics and I think its going to be an exciting time for me and my blogging career.
This blog is intended as an extension of my blogging and its intended to show the personal bloggers to make some money rather than necessarily ever be able to do blogging as a full time business. I’m never going to charge for this blog and I am never going to try and convince you to buy something. I do intend for it to bring in some money through advertising, some sponsored posts and through some affiliate income from some links that I provide. If you find this blog helpful then I ask that you consider linking from your blog or including it in your blogroll.
I should also point out that the blog is going to be written from the perspective of using WordPress as the blogging platform and while I will endevour to cover options for other platforms, I have found WordPress to be the best option as a blogging platform and for making money.
Another thing that is relevant is that I am an Australian (hence the .au on the end of the domain name) which means that while most of what I write about has appeal to everyone, I may not cover certain “country specific†options that I am excluded from participating in.
